Just north of Dallas, popular Lewisville Lake is a 29,592 acre lake with unlimited outdoor recreation opportunities. Over 20 parks surround the lake and offer camping, hiking, picnicking, horseback riding, boating, and golf.

Lake Lewisville is located in the northern part of the DFW metroplex. It is the most visited lake in the Dallas Fort Worth area. With multiple parks, boat ramps, marinas and great fishing, it has become the destination for weekday and weekend outings.

The location of Lake Lewisville in southern Denton County makes it a convenient trip for anyone in DFW.

The lake is manged and operated by the Corp of Engineers.

With 6 distinct areas of the Lake, your family can get away from most of the hustle and bustle of the city for a few hours or days.

There are many businesses that rent or lease boats of all sizes and there are numerous boat ramps to bring your own boat.

The fishing on Lake Lewsiville is some of the finest in the State of Texas.

Lewisville Lake

Lewisville Lake encompasses more than 29,000 acres of excellent water recreational opportunities! Featuring many marinas and public parks, boat ramp access and Texas’ famous hot summer weather, it’s ideal for fishing, skiing, boating and swimming.  Surrounded by 16,843 acres of park and wildlife management lands, Lewisville Lake is also an excellent location for camping, picnicking, hiking, cycling, birding and much more.

In addition, Lewisville Lake has an average depth of 40-50 feet and is surrounded by 187 miles of shoreline, 23 of which line The Colony. The predominant species of fish include largemouth bass, spotted bass, white and hybrid striped bass, white crappie and blue and channel catfish. Lewisville Lake is managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and receives abundant support from Texas Park and Wildlife and Lewisville Lake Environmental Learning Area (LLELA).
